Beach Adventures: Convict Memories

Having been born in Redcliffe, Queensland, and living only half an hour away, I was surprised to find out how very little I knew about it! I never knew it was the first place that Matthew Flinders landed and explored in the Brisbane area, or that it was a convict settlement founded by John Oxley which was deserted after just a few months for Brisbane’s North Quay. Or that the settlement itself is called ‘Humpybong’, which comes from an Aboriginal word for ‘dead house’. I’m going back to the museum soon for sure!

Since I’m slack and haven’t been to the beach in over a year, it was really nice to just paddle about for a while in the sunshine 🙂

What do you think? Tell me about it!
