Ever wonder what happened to the Joker in the DC New 52 Detective Comics last year ? You know, with the whole him losing his face to Batmans latest foe, Dollmaker ?
*Well, in October’s Batman #13, Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo will kick off a Joker story line titled “Death of the Family,” utilizing the villain in what DC has announced will be a “dark, horrifying, unnerving” way.
*The Joker storyline is expected to spill over into other Bat-family titles, as DC revealed that “the grave consequences of the Joker’s re-emergence will be felt by not only the Bat-family, but by all of Gotham City.”
*DC recently saw a substantial sales increase with the “Night of the Owls,” storyline which saw most Bat-family titles tying into the main Batman storyline.
*Artist Greg Capullo has said that this is a dream come true as the Joker is the ultimate rogue and the villain he most wanted to draw.
*”Death of the Family” will bring back the Joker after the character appeared briefly in Detective Comics #1 in September 2011. However, at the end of that issue the character had his face literally removed, and has not been seen again in the New DC 52 universe.
*Some fans are a little worried that the Clown Prince of Crime’s new face will be reminiscent of Heath Ledger’s, from The Dark Knight movie. Fear not horror fans, for Capullo has stated The Joker’s redesign will be “a macabre and bloody, flesh crawling nightmare NOT for the faint of heart!”. Just doesn’t sound cute enough to look like Heath…
*He crippled Batgirl in ‘Killing Joke’, he killed a Robin in ‘Death in the Family’, how will the citizens of Gotham escape ‘The Joker’ and his crazy plans in this latest adventure?
*Make sure you pop into your local comic shop and grab a copy of Batman #13 when it hits the shelves this October ……

Well it was never a matter of “if” but “when” Marvel would follow in the footsteps of competitor DC, and relaunch their line of comics in some form or another. ‘Keeping up the Joness’ if you will!
*Unlike the DC reboot, last September, which restarted all of the company’s popular titles from scratch, in one big hit, the latest news from Marvel, is that as of Feb 2013 they will gradually relaunch one series per week, under the label Marvel NOW!
*Take note that the difference between the Marvel and DC reboots is that Marvel is not completely redefining their universe, they are relaunching SOME characters and costumes, but with all new numbering.
*The short list of confirmed titles are Avengers, said to be written by Jonathan Hickman with over 18 members on the team, X-Men, written by Brian Michael Bendis dealing with the original five X-Men time traveling to the present day, and The Uncanny Avengers, which will include Captain America, Wolverine, Thor, Rogue, Havok, and many others.

*Many people are eagerly awaiting the cinematic intrepretation of Edgar Allen Poe’s ‘The Raven’ which has not yet reached Australian shores.
*If you would like to get up to date with some of Edgar Allen Poe’s poetic endeavours, in comic style, check out Darkhorse’s Edgar Allan Poe’s The Conqueror Worm. It is the story of a betrayed man who hunts down his wife and her lover, only to stumble upon a gruesome puppet show based on his life.
*Other works, by the famous poet, that may be seen in the series include The Sleeper, The City in the Sea, The Masque of the Red Death, and The Raven (to name a few).
*Created by Richard Corben, also known for his work on Hellboy, the series will be rotten to the core! Make sure to keep an eye out for it this November.
